The "New Music at Willamette" season spring concert features the new music ensemble Beta Collide with guest artist Stephen Vitiello in a free performance on Saturday, April 5 at 7pm in Hudson Hall.
| Sound and media artist Stephen Vitiello is currently Assistant Professor of
Kinetic Imaging at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Archivist for
The Kitchen, NYC. BETA COLLIDE is a radical new music group directed by former
eighth blackbird member Molly Barth and Brian McWhorter, member of Meridian
Arts Ensemble and professor of contemporary music at Manhattan School of Music
and professor of trumpet at University of Oregon. BETA COLLIDE curates new
pieces by provocative composers and also includes striking improvisers in
their concerts. BETA COLLIDE's performance will include works by Stephen
Vitello, Valentin Silvestrov, Mark Applebaum, Earle Brown, and Mauricio Kagel. Vitiello will host a guest lecture Thursday, April 3, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.
in Rogers Rehearsal Room. Beta Collide will lead a student composer reading
session Friday, April 4, from 2 to 3 p.m. in Rogers Rehearsal Room. Both
events are free and open to the public. |
