The Campaign for Willamette

Dear Friends,

Steven Wynne M. Lee Pelton

Willamette University is sprinting toward the conclusion of its historic $125 million campaign. The energy that has infused this effort over the past several months has all involved breathless and smiling.

Among recent highlights was the September gift of $1 million from members of the Class of 1957. This magnanimous gesture pushed the Campaign for Willamette to the $100 million mark.

Of equal importance is the continued participation of the University community. Since the campaign began, Willamette faculty and staff have donated more than $1,670,000 and our trustees have contributed $29 million.

And hundreds of donors, with gifts that range from $25 to $1 million, have directed their gifts to scholarship support which now stands at approximately $24 million.

An $8 million gift from the late Hallie Ford, combined with a $2 million pledge from the Board of Trustees, puts us in high gear for the construction of Ford Hall, the new 42,000-square-foot academic building set to open in 2009.

We must raise another $17 million. We approach this finale with great confidence because we know what lies in the hearts and minds of our alumni, trustees, faculty and staff.

Since 2002, the Campaign for Willamette has been focused on deepening our endowment, which today stands at $285 million. Our endowment is our future. It is what makes this university competitive, vigorous and secure. To all partners in philanthropy, we thank you for your continued faith in Willamette.
