The Center for Sustainable Communities Partners with The Resource Innovation Group and the Climate Leadership Initiative
The Center for Sustainable Communities at Willamette University is pleased to join with The Resource Innovation Group and the Climate Leadership Initiative (TRIG/CLI) in a collaborative partnership focused on applied research, policy analysis, education, technical assistance, and public service projects. We look forward to aligning our individual missions in an effort to foster an atmosphere of collaboration between our organizations.
TRIG/CLI has developed a national and international reputation researching the impacts of climate change (social, ecological, economic, and cultural), and facilitating regional governmental and non-governmental responses to those impacts. More information about their various ongoing projects is available at http://www.theresourceinnovationgroup.org/.
Former Willamette University President Pelton and TRIG Executive Director Bob Doppelt signed a Memorandum of Understanding that formally affiliates TRIG/CLI with Willamette University and the Center for Sustainable Communities. TRIG/CLI continues to be based out of their present offices in Eugene, but beginning in September 2011 TRIG/CLI has begun working more closely with interested Willamette faculty to share research and education projects, provide internships and research experiences for Willamette students, and will begin monthly research and work presentations/workshops on campus. At present, TRIG/CLI is examining basing at least one of their latest projects—the Willamette Basin Resiliency Compact—in Salem. The Center for Sustainable Communities looks forward to working with TRIG/CLI as we work together to find solutions to ensure a sustainable future.
