What is Zena Farm?

  • Three growing areas:
    • a 3000 sq ft kitchen garden used for growing a large number of crops and varieties on a trial basis for our production field
    • a 1/2 acre production field used for growing organic vegetables for the campus community
    • a 1600 sq ft greenhouse used for season extension and for growing starts for our production field
  • A site tended by the Alternative Agriculture Community, the Compost Club, work study students and volunteers from the Willamette community
  • A living laboratory, in which Willamette University can depend on a more local, sustainable food source in order to prosper as a sustainable facility according to the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment
  • A destination where students can explore, experiment and come to understand organic growing while gaining practical experience in learning to run a business
