Nicholai Lidow received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2011. Nicholai has more than a decade of experience completing field research in African nations such as Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Somalia. Nicholai’s research focuses on African politics, non-state armed groups, and conflict economies, as well as the development of methods for collecting economic, political, and humanitarian data in active conflict zones. His most recent research on these topics has appeared in the "Journal of Survey Statistics and Methodology" and he has a forthcoming book, with Cambridge University Press, which explains the organization of rebel groups during Liberia’s civil war. Nicholai, furthermore, is a co-founder of the start-up data analytics firm, Groundtruth.io.
