General Census Information: This web site contains general census information for the demographics of Oregon, including population, housing, and social characteristics at the county level.

Marion County Demographics
Polk County Demographics: These web sites give data on the county level by breaking up the population of each county into racial groups, household ownership, as well as including births and deaths. Statistics for employment and income are also included in this quick facts table.

School District Demographic Profiles are provided through a series of pull down menus that allows the user to look at the demographics of one school district or compare the demographics of two districts anywhere in the United States. Information is from Census 2000.

Marion County Economic Census Information
Polk County Economic Census Information: Taken from the 1997 Economic Census, these links provide statistics for a number of industries on sales, payroll, and number of employees in the county. By clicking on an industry, more detailed statistics are available.

Marion County Economic Indicators
Polk County Economic Indicators: These links are a quick reference for county economic indicators for 1996-2001 including statistics for populations, labor force, unemployment rates, payroll averages, and personal income.

Put together by Oregon State University, the Public Issues Education Page (PIE) site contains information about agriculture, poverty and welfare, economy, land use, and government and taxes. Most of the statistical data can eventually be found at the county level, but a bit of work is necessary to navigate through all of the links.

Education and Children:

Adult and Family Services' This web site includes reports on families, children, and food stamp programs that is reported on the city level as well as other information.

Federal Agency Statistics: This is a guide to sources of statistical and descriptive information about cities and counties in Oregon. Included topics are communication, economy, education, energy, environment, government, health, housing, law enforcement, population, transportation, and tourism.

Kids Count provides 2000 census data specifically pertaining to children, such as child well-being, school enrollment, and poverty for Marion County and Polk County.

Kindergarten Survey gives statistics for developmental readiness for kindergarten in 2000. Statistics for Marion County can be found on page 72 and for Polk County on page 75 of the report.

Healthy Teens Survey results for Marion County and Mid-Willamette Valley (Polk/Yamhill Counties) available in PDF format. Click on the links for information about 8th and 11th grade alcohol, drug, and tobacco use as well as other indicators.

Marion County Health Care Education
Polk County Health Care Education: Sponsored by Oregon Health and Science University, these sites give patient care and education services statistics for the county level.

The National Center for Education Statistics provides general information about the school districts in Marion County and Polk County as well as information about each school within the district.

Number of students eligible for free or reduced lunch prices by individual school for 1997-1998 to 2002-2003 school years. Use the pull-down menus to select specific years and school districts.

Reports on Test Results in mathematics, reading, and writing provided by Oregon Department of Education for 2000 for individual schools.

Summer Food Service Program Machine allows the user to map the areas which recieve the summer food service program as well as the number of percentage of children in poverty in that area.

Air Quality: Link provides statistical information about the Clean Air act and what Oregon is doing to regulate the air quality in the state.

Health:

Birth rates and adequate prenatal care rates provided by Oregon Department of Human Services at the county and zip code level for 1990-2003.

The CDC Wonder site allows the user to find mortality rates for any age, race, or gender at the county level. Click on the sign in as a guest to use the site.

Economic Well-being and Poverty (requires Acrobat Reader) provides tables and color-coded maps concerning income, poverty, unemployment, education level, and more. The report put out by Oregon State University has statistics for Marion County beginning on page 98 and for Polk County beginning on page 110.

Oregon Department of Human Services Annual Report; data is at the county level for 1995-2001:
Volume 1 contains data on the number of births, induced termination of pregnancy, and teen pregnancy rates.
Volume 2 contains data on death for all ages including prenatal as well as statistics on adolescent suicide attempts.

Teen pregnancy counts and rates by county for 1990-2003 provided by Oregon Department of Human Services. This site also has three year aggregates by zip code.
