APPLICATION FOR SABBATICAL LEAVE
The purpose of the sabbatical leave is to encourage professional growth and intellectual enrichment, particularly as these qualities contribute to teaching effectiveness within the department or program and college curriculum. On this form please supply summary information about your request for sabbatical leave and a detailed description of the activities you propose to undertake and the benefits that will accrue to you as a teacher, your department and/or program, and the University. The proposal should be written in enough detail so that a committee of faculty peers from a variety of disciplines can understand and evaluate the usefulness and validity of your project. Sometimes methodologies or procedures commonly accepted in your field may have to be briefly explained. Aside from the description and methodology, you should also include a timeline and budget. The committee may ask for further clarification if necessary. For additional information about what is expected in a detailed proposal consult with the Dean of Liberal Arts. Your application is due no later than August 31 of the year preceding the proposed leave.
