Professor Fujiwara received her B.Ed. degree in English language education from Hiroshima University, Japan and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Linguistics from Georgetown University. Her research interests include first and second language acquisition studies, Japanese pedagogy, and cognitive linguistics. She has been collaborating with the Georgetown Institute for Cognitive and Computational Sciences (GICCS) on investigating a relationship between the lexicon/grammar distinction and a fundamental distinction between two well-studied brain memory systems.
