This course is intended to shift our attention from the typical "real world" concern about persuasive effectiveness and refocus attention on the consequences of manipulating language. Accompanying an examination of the theoretical bases for ethical communication, we will examine case studies selected from: social protest, evangelism, propaganda, advertising and political campaigns.
Prerequisite: RHET 231 or consent of instructor, Closed to Freshmen
