This course teaches students the fundamental methods of systematic data collection in sociology, including survey design and data base construction, and extends their understanding of the quantitative analytical methods to which they were introduced in SOC 301 (or its equivalent). The student will also continue to develop their understanding of research design procedures, data coding, and research ethics, among other topics. The relationship between theory and research will be considered as it pertains to the topics under analysis. Students will be required to conduct original research, write a literature review, and produce a research report of their findings.
