ARTH 249 (TH) Post-War Art: 1945-1970 (1)

A detailed overview of the most important developments in art and aesthetics in Europe and the United States following World War II. Discussions highlight Abstract Expressionism, Neo-Dada, Pop, Minimalism, Fluxus, Arte Povera, COBRA and Conceptual Art, among other movements. Experiments in Video, Performance and happenings are also examined in relation to contextual issues such as, for instance, the Civil Rights movement, the International Student Movement, and the Vietnam War.
