Survey of early analytic philosophy, including major works by Gottlob Frege, Bertrand Russell, the young Ludwig Wittgenstein, and others as time permits. Special emphasis on the movement's distinctive concerns and methods, including the turn from epistemology to the investigation of meaning. We conclude by considering various respects in which the movement can be said to have failed, and some prospects that emerge from that failure.
