This course focuses on Quebecois literature and cinema produced since the "Révolution tranquille" and Quebec's entrance into modernity in the 1960's. Examines Quebecois authors who unleashed a social and cultural revolution through their questioning of tradition, including that of the French language itself exemplified by their use of the working-class sociolect "joual," a non-standard dialect of Canadian French. Explores an important element of "Francophonie," geographical and cultural contexts outside of France which have contributed significantly to the richness and diversity of French language, literature and culture.
