Civic Communication and Media welcomes Professor de Onís

We're thrilled that Catalina de Onís will join the Civic Communication and Media department faculty as an assistant professor in fall 2017!

Professor Catalina de Onís received her doctorate in Communication and Culture from Indiana University in spring 2017. Her dissertation examines the relationship between rhetoric and energy, including different currents generated by (non)/renewable energy sources and the human relationships that power and give meaning to our lives. During the past eight years and at three different universities, she has taught several communication courses, including public speaking, communicating sustainability, and interpersonal communication. Prior to studying social movement rhetoric, Professor de Onís was a broadcast journalist and continues to enjoy encountering, listening to, and sharing stories with others.
