China Debate Education Network
Willamette University is very excited to announce a major project to support British Parliamentary Debate in the Peoples Republic of China. Willamette University will partner with five other Universities in the United States to support this project. These universities include: Hobart and William Smith Colleges in New York, Linfield College in Oregon, Pacific Lutheran University and the University of Puget Sound in Washington, and Regis University in Colorado. The six universities, including Willamette will join with IDEA -- the International Debate Education Association -- to support approximately 23 major events each year for then next three years in the Peoples Republic of China.
We are in the process of creating partnerships among the six US universities and six or more Chinese universities in what are now loosely defined regions including the cities of Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, Wuhan, Chengdu, Nanning, and Dalian. Our plan is to offer a training of teachers and four debate tournaments in or near each of these seven regions. Additionally, we plan to offer the China Open and the Advocacy Institute for a total of 23 events per year.
As we develop this project further, we will add details to this website. In the meantime, if you have questions about this project, please feel free to direct them to me at trapp@willamette.edu.
Looking forward to working on this project for our mutual benefit.
