Description: Grey body and nape with black head and wings. L 33 cm.

Ancient Associations:

Proverb: koloiós póti koloión (birds of a feather flock together), referring to the fact that jackdaws are usually seen in flocks or at least pairs. Koloios is also used metaphorically of impudent, noisy talkers, e.g., Aristophanes Knights1020. (1)
