Answer
Key to the Exercises GVE p. 268
I've brought peace from pirates to the sea. Of its own accord, the
whole of Italy took an oath of allegiance to me (lit., swore to
my words, i.e., repeated the words of the oath after me), and it
demanded me as leader in the war which I won at Actium. The provinces
of Gaul (Gallia citerior and Gallia ulterior), of Spain (Hispania
cit. and ult.), Africa, Sicily, <and> Sardinia swore the same
oath of allegiance. I enlarged the boundaries of all provinces of
the Roman people that were close to people who did not obey our
rule. I brought peace to the Gallic and Hispanic provinces and similarly
to Germany. I pacified the Alps from that region which is next to
the Adriatic Sea up to the Tuscan Sea. My fleet sailed from the
mouth of the Rhine to the region of the rising sun up to the boundaries
of the Cimbri (in modern Denmark). I added Egypt to the rule of
the Roman people. Very many other people have experienced the protection
of the Roman people, while I was princeps (leader), with whom there
previously had existed no exchange of embassies or friendship with
the Roman people.
