(a) Verres persuaded Servilius to come to Lilybaeum. [or: that

(b) When Servilius came to Lilybaeum (better: as soon as S. had
come to L.), he was beaten by the lictors.
(c) Verres had ordered the lictors to beat the man.
(d) As a Roman citizen, Servilius begs Verres neither to beat nor
to kill him.
(e) Just as Verres beats Roman citizens, in the same way, I assert,
