The General Education Program

The CLA Faculty believes that students of Willamette University should include in their General Education Program:

  1. Freshman Seminar: World Views
  2. Two Quantitative Reasoning courses
  3. Four Writing-Centered courses (including World Views)
  4. Study in a language other than English

In addition we have identified six broadly defined inquiry modes that encompass crucial facets of a general education; these compose the General Education Distribution Requirements:

  1. Understanding the natural world
  2. Creating in the Arts
  3. Analyzing arguments, reasons, and values
  4. Thinking historically
  5. Interpreting texts
  6. Understanding Society
