Mark O. Hatfield Debates
February 27-28, 2010
Invitation
Featuring Chinese debaters on the Pacific Nothwest Debate Tour
On behalf of the staff and students of the Willamette University Debate Union and the Philomathean Society, I am happy to invite you and your best parliamentary debating teams to the tenth annual Mark O. Hatfield debates. The Hatfield debates will be held on our campus on February 27 - 28, 2010.
On Friday evening, February 26, we will have a public debate involving Willamette University, Xi'an Jaiotong University, and two other colleges or universities attending the Hatfield tournament. If you are interested in participating in this public debate, please contact Robert Trapp.
The tournament will host open divisions of the traditional NPDA version of parliamentary debate as well as four-team debate based on the model of the World Universities Debate Council. Our intent is to provide a gracious and leisurely tournament where debaters have the time to engage in social activities as well as competition. To ensure a competitive yet relaxed atmosphere, we will include time in the schedule for meals. On Saturday, lunch will be on your own and we will provide a hearty awards reception.
Entries for the tournament will be accepted at forensictournament.net.
For the Willamette University Debate Union,
