Intel is short
for Integrated Electornics? Whey Intel
went into business producing silicon-based computer chips
in 1968, the company's founders wanted to use the full name,
but it was already in use.
The first person to
recieve a social security check was Ida May Fuller from Vermont.
She retired in November 1939 and starting collecting benefits
in January 1940 at the age of 65. In the three years that
Ms. Fuller worked under the program, she contributed a total
of $24.75. Her first check was for $22.54 and she collected
benefits for 35 years, for a total of $22,888.92. She died
in 1975 at the age of 100.
