The Environmental and Earth Sciences Department offers a comprehensive study of the natural and social sciences necessary for understanding human impact on the natural world. Our majors gain competence in both the natural and social sciences, enabling them to become contributing members of society. We emphasize critical thinking, persuasive and informed writing, competency in research and public speaking skills.

Students majoring in environmental and earth sciences at Willamette University benefit from excellent faculty and challenging courses. Through a combination of classroom, field, lab, study abroad, research, and internship opportunities, our majors are well-suited to address a wide variety of environmental issues as teachers, consultants, researchers, volunteers and citizens.
