Our office issues warnings, watches and advisories along with the public forecasts for the San Francisco Bay & Monterey Bay areas. We also do a lot of outreach activities in the community to educate people about their local weather and how to be prepared for emergencies. advice: My Environmental Science degree has paired nicely with my Master's in Meteorology. Global warming and climate change are still hot topics in the news. My knowledge of environmental issues helps me explain the meteorological aspects to media and the public. Also, the National Weather Service (NWS) has a program for forecasters to be trained as IMETs (Incident Meteorologists). IMETs are called out to incidents to provide specialized forecasts. This was originally designed to help the Forest Service during fire season, but IMETs are now being trained for oil spills and chemical hazards.
