Fiction writer Gabriel Blackwell is the author of a novel, Shadow Man: A Biography of Lewis Miles Archer, published in November 2012, and a collection of stories and essays, Critique of Pure Reason, released in January 2013.  He teaches fiction writing at Willamette University and serves as book reviews editor of The Collagist.

2:30–3:30 p.m.Hallie Ford Literary Series: Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen

Oregon's sixth and current Poet Laureate Paulann Petersen is the author of five collections of poetry, including The Wild Awake, Blood Silk, A Bride of Narrow Escape, and most recently, The Voluptuary.  A former Stegner Fellow at Stanford University, she has given poetry workshops at libraries, conferences, and colleges around the state, and she serves on the board of directors of Friends of William Stafford, an organization that honors the late poet's legacy with an annual celebration.

Author of more than a dozen books of fiction and nonfiction, Michael Martone is often cited as one of the most innovative writers of contemporary letters.  His books include Fort Wayne Is Seventh on Hitler's List, The Blue Guide to Indiana, The Flatness and Other Landscapes, Michael Martone, and Four for a Quarter.  He teaches at the University of Alabama.
