ABC’s of Exercise Equipment
The Lunch n’ Learn Series is proud to present “The ABC's of Exercise Equipment” by Julianne Abendroth-Smith, Ed.D., Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at Willamette University on March 12. This is part of an ongoing series of lunch programs designed to provide topics of interest to the Willamette community in both your personal and professional lives as gleaned from the survey many employees and faculty completed in September of 2001.
Exercise is work, but it shouldn’t be agony, shouldn’t lead to burnout, or result in collapse or other such stress. Professor Abendroth-Smith will discuss the latest trends in exercise equipment ... do they really work? What does work? She will address common questions such as “How and where do I begin? What kind of exercise should I be doing? How can I keep going? How can I avoid injury?”
Professor Julianne Abendroth-Smith is a biomechanist in the Department of Exercise Science, and has done research on the effectiveness and safety of exercise and equipment. She believes exercise should be part of a lifestyle that is to be enjoyed, not simply endured. |
