Internship Sites

Sites in the Salem area which have hosted Willamette interns:

  • Auburn Elementary School in Salem offers an internship focusing on issues facing children and how they are addressed in the school system.
  • Historic Deepwood Estate offers a variety of projects geared toward students majoring in the humanities; the gardens and nature trails provide opportunities for biology and environmental science majors as well.
  • Legislative internships are available with many senators and representatives at the Oregon State Capitol.
  • Marion County Children's Mental Health Services offers internships in counseling.
  • SAIF Corporation offers internships in industrial psychology.
  • Silver Falls Soccer Club offers internships in coaching.
  • The District Attorney's office offers internships in victim's assistance.

 Internships are available at more distant sites as well. Work at the site is sometimes undertaken during the summer, in which case the academic credit is completed on campus with the assistance of the on-campus supervisor.   • Conari Press in Berkeley, Calif. - editing
  • Hart Crowser, environmental consulting firm in Lake Oswego, Ore. - site assessment and remedial technologies
  • Olympic National Forest in Olympia, Wash. - watershed restoration and geology
  • Oregon Public Broadcasting in Portland, Ore. - summer internship for students studying journalism and telecommunications
  • Corporate Realty Advisors/CRESA in Portland, Ore. - summer research and marketing internship in commercial real estate
  • The Taylor Family Foundation in Lafayette, Calif. - corporate fundraising
