International Studies

Major

Degrees Available: Bachelor of Arts

Gain the knowledge and skills you need to excel in today’s increasingly interconnected world.

Many issues or problems that have been regarded as primarily domestic can no longer be understood or resolved without considering their international or comparative contexts. This is your chance to explore those factors in depth.

You’ll discuss topics of international significance as you take courses in history, politics, economics and sociology, while also learning a non-English language. We'll invite you to use a range of perspectives as you examine the contrasting patterns of change in different parts of the world and the dramatic trends of increased interdependence among nations.

Along the way, you can gain hands-on international experience in one of our many study abroad programs. You’ll also explore your interests in an independent research and analysis project.

Your experiences will prepare you to engage with the international community in careers such as journalism, dispute resolution, foreign service, education, government, international business and community development. The major also provides an excellent foundation for graduate studies in international affairs, law, public policy, management and urban/regional planning.
