Last minute sage advice for Bob as he gets set to go out into the world.

What do Japanese Studies majors do?

Janet Locke returned to Japan to pursue graduate school. Suzanne and Shelley went to Japan with the JET Program as did Bob, Dani, Shea and Anna who were all in Kawagoe in the very similar KET Program. Bob spent three years on the KET Program and will be enrolling at University of Chicago for Ph.D. work in Japanese History in the fall of 2003.

Trisha, who is a double major with Exercise Science, is working as a trainer in the sports medicine field while Colleen, who is a double major with Sociology, works for the Women's Crisis Center in Salem. Colleen traveled to Japan on her own in the Summer of 2001 visiting with her former homestay family and catching up with Anna Smith as well.

Former grads Loren Waller and Tara Bilyeu, who are married, are moving to Kyoto after several years in the Tokyo area while Loren did the KET program, where Loren will be a Mombusho Fellowship recipient working on his Master's Degree in classical Japanese language and literature.

*Update* Loren completed his masters and proceeded to Columbia University where he continued his studies. He and Tara are now back in Japan where Loren is teaching and Tara is working and pursuing graduate studies.
