Study Abroad is an important component of the Japanese Studies major. Although other options may be explored, our primary study abroad opportunity is the Japan Studies Program (JSP) at our sister-institution in Japan, Tokyo International University in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture. The role of the JSP in the Japanese Studies major is to strengthen the student's foundation in Japanese language through classes which meet over twelve hours per week or more than three times the contact hours on our campus; enhance language speaking opportunities and the chance to observe Japanese family life directly through an excellent homestay program.
Students may also receive credits in non-language area courses on Japanese society, economy, business practices, theater and fine arts, etc.
