Ronald
P. Loftus holds a Ph.D. in modern Japanese history from Claremont
Graduate School. He has been teaching Japanese language, literature,
and history for over twenty years. Research interests include
late Meiji social and intellectual history and "self-writing"
--- autobiographies and memoirs -- by 20th century Japanese
women. Since 1997, Professor Loftus has been director of the
Northwest Language Consortium, a project funded by the Mellon
Foundation to enhance the use of technology in foreign language
teaching and learning.
