Chris Engbretson

Director of Voice/Opera Studies

Chris Engbretson holds a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in music with a piano performance concentration. Over the past decade, Chris has worked extensively as a pianist, chorister, vocal coach and conductor both locally and abroad. His conducting/piano credits include Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast, Spring Awakening, Little Shop of Horrors, Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, and the Linfield College Opera Workshop (The Marriage of Figaro, Così fan tutte). Chris regularly performs with several Portland vocal ensembles, including Cantores in Ecclesia, Cappella Romana, The Ensemble, and Kliros. An active member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association, Chris serves as the grant writer and chair of the Romantic and Classical Festivals. Chris has also served as visiting assistant professor of music at Linfield College where he conducted the Concert Choir, Women's Vocal Ensemble and Wildcat Men's Glee Club in addition to teaching core courses in the music curriculum.
