Ode to the Weather

Artist's Statement

The weather was quite interesting my freshman year. Some days I would wake up to a thunderstorm, get out of class to a 65-degree weather and go to dinner soaking wet from the rain. What's wrong with that picture you may ask! I have yet to figure that out. It was my intention with this piece to contrast a chaotic thunder stormed morning with a peaceful afternoon and a turbulent evening. The volume and panning effects for this piece were crucial for the first section in which a guitar sound begins the melody after the wild storm. Because of the nature of my guitar sound and its reverb effect I tried to have a lesser silence-filled section B compared to section A. The third section A1, a combination of sections A and B, is a quite complex section with the guitar playing at various pitches and the violin and saxophone playing a sequence multiple times back and forth, each playing different parts of the sequence. What the heck is up with this weather?
