Farewell School
Artist's Statement
Farewell School is a purely instrumental piece in response to the upcoming event, graduation. I had intended to do a tango piece instead but failed to get both themes to match up the way I wanted them. Farewell school came to mind after being frustrated at not getting my tango piece together and realizing that this was indeed my last project in my undergraduate career. It is my intention to portray the happy and sad emotions about leaving Willamette in this music piece composed in a sonata-allegro form. The instruments used in this piece clearly allow the piece to have a mellow, cheerful, and sad effect. The audio part used in the piece intends to remind the listener of the "fun" train riding away at 4:00 am. If you lived in any of the east-side resident halls, youšll understand what I mean!
