Midline
Artist's Statement
My artistic conception and goals were to create a piece that was very different from other peoplešs pieces. My main theme was life. I used my music to portray life and all the emotions and experiences that come with it. I wanted my piece to be fun and entertaining and to have several different needs just like people experience in their lives. I was able to accomplish this effect by using audio samples from the Internet in a creative way and mixing them in with the beats that I created. The way I mixed the audio pieces in and made them connect my beats was very creative and original. When I look back at my piece I think that I met my original expectations and goal for the development of the piece. My technical processes included editing my audio tracks from the Internet in peat. Then I created my original beats in a micrologic file. I then created an original sound in sound diver and added it to one of my original beats. Once all of the preparatory work was done I mixed the audio and midi tracks together in a creative and mechanical manner. Once I was happy with what I had created I made sure that I had three distinct sections and had used melodic development devices. Then I entered the volume and pen assignments with my pencil tool. Before this class I did not have any musical background. I do not read music and the terms used in class made no sense to me. The only thing I knew about music is that I like hip-hop music and I like what is either pleasing to the ear or music that can make you bounce to it. This is basically how I created my music. Išm not as technical and musically sophisticated as others in the class. I just try to create beats that are pleasing to my ear and that make me bob my head or shake my body a little.
