Sonata

My artistic conception and goals were to greate a piece that was consistent with the Sonata-Allegro framework and to make at flow very well musically. My main idea was to be amusing and try to create something that was easy to listen to and had several different ideas in it. I wanted my piece to be fun and entertaining and to have several different moods in the context.

I was able to accomplish this effect by using audio samples from the internet in a creative way and mixing them in with the beats that I created. The way I mixed the audio pieces in and made them connect my beats was very crerative and at times very challenging. I used one audio sample as the bulk of my middle section.

My technical processes included editing my audio tracks from the internet using Peak. This was after I had switched the files from mp3 to SD2 format using special software supplied by professor nord. Then I created my original beats in a MicroLogic file. Once all the prepatory work was done I mixed the audio and MIDI tracks together in a creative and mechanical manner, and added musicl transitions that allowed the piece to flow smoothly. Once I was happy with what I created I made sure that i had the three distinct sections that were shown in the Sonata-Allegro framework. Then I entered the volume and pan assignments with my pencil tool, and placed all of the MIDI sounds into a library in SoundDiver. After that I submitted my piece as an SD2 audio file.

Before this class I did not have any musical background. Through the year I have learned a lot about music and the process of composing. This class has been a very fun ay to express my ability and create music that sounds pretty good. I did not know if I would be able to excel in this class, but through the help of Professor nord and all of the tools and concepts that I have learned throughout the year, I have done pretty well. I just try to have fun and make something that sounds interesting at least. This is basically how I have created my music throught the year. I'm not as technical and musically sophisticated as others in the class. I just try to create beats that are pleasing to my ear and that can make me break my neck.
