Salem Chamber Orchestra
The Salem Chamber Orchestra is a semi-professional symphony comprised of Willamette University music faculty and students, professional musicians from the region and local volunteers selected through auditions. The Orchestra presents four concert programs each season in addition to the annual "Gift of Music" Family Concert.
A Willamette University soloist competition is held each year in the fall and the winner is featured on a season concert. Auditions are held at the beginning of each academic year to select student wind players and string section players. Preference is given to advanced students. A movement from a concerto and excerpts from the standard orchestra repertoire will be required for the audition.
Prerequisite: At least two semesters in the University Chamber Orchestra.

What people say
"It has been a fantastic experience to be in a somewhat “real world” orchestra and to have the opportunity to sit next to my professor. It’s also a great way to be exposed to lots of repertoire."
Willamette student violinist,
"SCO is able to rehearse and perform on a faster, higher level than any ensemble I have ever played with and it has absolutely made me a better player."
