The best preparation for becoming an elementary
school teacher includes a broad liberal arts education. The future
teacher may major in any field if good use is made of the choices
for electives. Assuming any specific major, a good preparation for
elementary teaching is equivalent to the construction of a second
major to add a wise choice of breadth. Assuming a major not in math
or science, the following courses would be good electives and choices
to fulfill general education requirements.
