| Middle
School Teachers |
| In Oregon most prospective teachers prepare
to teach either elementary and middle school or middle school and
high school. So, you should consider the recommendations for either
elementary or high school and have at least a strong minor in a subject
that is taught at that level. For science we suggest 8-10 units in
science including earth science, physical science and life science.
For mathematics there are special licensure tests, therefore we recommend
the following math/statistical courses: |
Math
138,
Soc 348, Psych 252,
253, or Econ 230:
Statistics |
Math 141, 142, or equivalent: Calculus |
Math 251: Foundations of Advanced Math |
Math 253: Linear Algebra |
Math 486: Topics for Teachers |
Math 499: Seminar |
| Ask whether these classes present multiple
opportunities for group work, and peer teaching and/or alternative
assessment. |
