Preparation to teach Physics at the high school level should begin with the five required courses for a Physics major. They are the four courses directly following, along with one elective.

Phys 215 & 236: Intro. Physics I & II
Phys: 331: Modern Physics
Phys 335: Thermal Physics
Phys: 339: Mechanics
Physics elective courses that may be especially appealing for future teachers are Astronomy and Wave Phenomena. The eighth Physics course for the major would be the senior Research Seminar.
Phys 210: Astronomy
Phys 342: Wave Phenomena
Phys 496: Research Seminar
A solid grounding in Mathematics is essential for a strong Physics background; thus, the following Mathematics course is required for the major.
Math 256: Differential Equations
Often, teaching Physics at the high school level is coupled with teaching courses in Mathematics or a second science. Thus, a future high school Physics teacher in Oregon may want to take two years of a second science such as Chemistry, Earth Science, or Computer Science.
