Teaching and Volunteer Opportunities
Salem SEAS (Saturday Explorations in Advanced Science)

Explore Science & Math Program: Willamette Undergraduates prepare a two hour activity and present it six times on Saturday mornings on campus. Students are in 5th - 9th grades and they or their parents are interested in doing more science. Other Saturday Academy classes will be announced as the Salem branch gets organized.

Programs include Bush Mentor Program, with one-on- one mentoring for an elementary school child, and Salem Outreach Center Carton Club, providing outreach to the homeless. 

Salem YMCA or YWCA

Both local organizations hire part-time employees and welcome volunteers to work with their child development programs and summer camps. Extensive aquatics programs at both sites offer particularly good opportunities for swim instructors and life guards.

Local Parks and Recreation: Where youth coaching opportunities can be found throughout the year. 

Willamette University Athletics Department

The Athletics Department runs summer camps for youth in several sports and sends athletes into the community to mentor children.
