March Medical Madness Itinerary
March is Willamette’s Medical month where on-campus healthcare initiatives, programs, events, and organizations invite you to participate in promoting campus health and wellness.

Student organizations registering in March Madness Medical Month have the opportunity to not only free marketing and advertising, but grants that would help pay for the expenses of their events (up to $500).

| 7:45am-5:00pm | Oregon Academy of Sciences Conference Ford Hall Oregon Academy of Science, a non-profit affiliate of AAAS, promotes and encourages research and teaching in the natural, physical and social sciences in the state of Oregon. This year Willamette proudly hosts the OAS Annual Meeting. This is a particularly supportive opportunity for students to present their research to other students and career professionals. Attedance is free for students, however to participate in the luncheon and to receive copies of the materials presented at the conference will require a $20 registration fee. Talks and posters will be presented throughout the morning starting at 7:45 am in Ford Hall and Smullin. Lunch at noon with feature welcoming remarks from President Thorsett, awards to Oregon's outstanding teachers and scientists, followed by a keynote speaker, Dr. Janis Weeks, PhD from University of Oregon. "From neuroscience to Africa to nanotechnology: What a long, strange trip!" Starting at 1:45, additional presentations will be held including a special chemistry research talk and career panel. | Check Link for Itinerary | Exercise Is Medicine Sparks The conference is the 2013 Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine Northwest Chapter, and will take place on March 15-16. The theme is "Exercise IS Medicine" and we have a very exciting lineup of speakers. The topics include diagnosis and treatment of concussions in sports, the role of policy makers in healthcare reform, community interventions for obesity, and many others. All the details will be available at the ACSM Northwest website at www.acsmnorthwest.org and then click the Annual Meeting tab. All the information will be listed on Monday. Attendance is free for all students. |
