Welcome

Willamette is committed to providing up-to-date information about the health professions both for prospective students and for students who are currently enrolled. Although information for different career paths in health care is found on two separate sites, the Department of Exercise Science and Pre-Health Advising have a reciprocal, coordinated, and integrated relationship with the committed objective of providing appropriate information. Willamette offers free advising to its students and alumni who are pursuing careers in the health sciences.

Students (and alumni) interested in medical school (M.D. and D.O.), dentistry, optometry, and veterinary medicine will find resources for application and requirements on this site.

Students (and alumni) with an interest in or currently performing paramedical care, nursing, podiatry, occupational or physical therapy, physician assistant training, athletic training, or other sport-related health professions will find Health Care Professions advising on the Exercise Science Department website.

Students and alumni should explore both areas because there is congruency of academic requirements for all pre-health concentrations.

There will be a great representation of community organizations with pre-health related volunteer opportunities including Salem Hospital, Willamette Family Medical Center, Salem Free Medical Clinic, Easter Seals Children's Therapy Center, Oregon Foundation for Reproductive Health, Willamette Valley Hospice, and American Red Cross.
