"Archaeologic Sites of the American Southwest," Dr. William Smith [B. Griffitts], Ford 122

Professor William Smith who, with interesting commentary and beautiful photography, acquainted us with archaeological discoveries in what is now Mexico, and, later, the possible site of mythical Atlantis and the Etruscan civilization, returns to provide a comprehensive review and travel guide to notable sites and artifacts of the ancient Anasazi, Hohokam, Mogollon and Sinagua of the American Southwest. The sites covered include: Pecos N.M., Bandelier N.M., Acoma N.M., Hovenweep Utah, and Wupatki Ariz.

1:00–2:00 p.m.
Fabric of the Cosmos, Part 4, "Universe or Multiverse?" [G Beck], Ford 122
The final installment of Brian Greene's Cosmos series. Is our universe unique or could it be just one of many in an endless "multiverse" where copies of you, me, and everyone else may exist? This radical idea is getting some serious scientific attention, and could revolutionize our picture of he cosmos-and our place within it.
2:00–3:00 p.m.
"Leftover Turkey," Don Gallagher, Ford 122

This presentation is a supplement to the Snapshot of Modern Turkey presentation made by ICL member Don Gallagher in December.

This session will focus on a brief history of Central Turkey to include Ankara, Konya, Çatalhöyük, and Cappadoccia. A video presentation will give an overview of the history, while Don will share a few personal observations and experiences in Cappadoccia. Included will be the amazing underground city of Derinkuyu and also a glimpse of the unique geology of the area as viewed from a hot air balloon.

Thursday, May 3

10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
"ICL Members Up Close", Ford 122

This is a continuation of our very well received sessions from the last several terms. ICL is made up of a very interesting group of folks with fascinating backgrounds. In this session we will get to know a few of them a little better as we ask them to share an interesting story from their family, their work experience, or world experience. Today we will hear from six of our colleagues, who will each share a 15 minute story.

12:00 p.m.
End-of-Semester Luncheon followed by Annual General Meeting , **Montag Den**

Election of the 2012-2013 Board will take place at the Annual General Meeting. The slate of candidates as determined by the Nominating Committee is posted on the ICL Bulletin Board outside Ford 122, and on the ICL web site (see link in the left column). Nominations can also be made by ICL members; such nominations must be posted on the ICL Bulletin Board by April 26, and must give the name of the nominee, the nominee's qualifications, and confirmation of the nominee's willingness to serve.
