The twentieth anniversary of Deirdre McCloskey's The Rhetoric of Economics offers an opportunity for both rhetoric and economics scholars to assess the status of McCloskey's claims and the potential for interaction between the two disciplines. The conference's aim is to provoke conversations both within each disciplinary framework -- rhetoricians talking to rhetoricians, and economists to economists -- and between the disciplines, to explore what each might learn from the other.
Proposals are invited for presentations or thematic panels. Please give thought in your proposals as to whether they are aimed at disciplinary or interdisciplinary audiences. Historical and theoretical orientations are both welcome. Potential themes and topics are:
