Bio

Professor Overstreet came to Willamette after holding temporary visiting positions at the University of Iowa and Williams College. An enrolled member of the Muscogee/Creek nation, Dr. Overstreet has focused her scholarship on contemporary fiction from Spain, particularly by women authors. Among the areas of her scholarship focus, Professor Overstreet has conducted interviews with authors Luis Landero, Alicia Giménez Bartlett and Almudena Grandes. Recently she has expanded her research into the area of literature of the economic, political and social crises in Spain starting in 2008.

Research

Professor Overstreet focuses on contemporary Peninsular (Spanish) fiction, especially by women authors. Sub specialties include Picaresque, Post-Spanish Civil War narrative, Spanish detective fiction (la novela detectivesca/policiaca) and the "novela de la crisis" or novels and art of "la crisis" of 2008.
