Katherine Sanders

Katherine Sanders began her dance training at the Montpelier Academy of Ballet in Montpelier, Vermont. In those early years she studied ballet, jazz and musical theater dance extensively. In college she broadened her studies with modern dance, cultural dance forms, hip-hop and dance therapy. Katherine received her B.S. in Dance with a focus in dance education from Skidmore College.

In the early 90s she studied with Jeanne Bresciani, director of the Isadora Duncan School of Dance, and became an assistant teacher of workshops in the U.S. Virgin Islands. From there her teaching continued and choreography also became a strong part of her dance career. She has choreographed a dozen musicals and many pieces for dance schools and colleges throughout Oregon. As her love of dance continues, she continues her own study of dance and has twice attended the Dance Teacher Conference in NYC. A personal interest for Katherine is looking at dance historically and within cultural context. Dance as an anthropological study is something she one day hopes to explore more deeply.
