Biography

Leslie Brott is returning to Willamette as guest artist to direct Moliere’s Tartuffe. Previously, in the Willamette 1995-96 season, Leslie played the role of Mrs. Rafi in The Sea.

She has worked twelve seasons with the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespearean Festival, and also worked with the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, GeVa Theatre, Dallas Theater Center, Madison Repertory Theatre, PCPA Theaterfest, Sacramento Theatre Company, Salt Lake Acting Company and the Great River, Lake Tahoe, Idaho, Arizona and Southwest Shakespeare Festivals. Ms. Brott also works as a professional director and text/vocal/dialect coach. Other academic appointments include positions with Willamette University, PCPA-Theaterfest, Scottsdale Community College and Southern Utah University. Previous to her appointment with SMU, she taught voice and speech in the Professional Actor Training Program at the University of Illinois.

Her acting credits with Utah Shakespearean Festival include Volumnia, Coriolanus; Dolly Levi, The Matchmaker; Mistress Ford, The Merry Wives of Windsor; Charmian, Antony & Cleopatra; Gertrude, Hamlet; Nurse, Romeo & Juliet; Holofernia, Love’s Labour’s Lost; Kate, Taming of the Shrew; Ida, Morning’s at Seven; Queen Elizabeth, Richard III; Mistress Overdone, Measure for Measure; Judith Bliss, Hay Fever; Eleanor of Aquitaine, The Lion in Winter; Lily Miller, Ah, Wilderness!; Martha Brewster, Arsenic & Old Lace; Mrs. Clandon, You Never Can Tell; Titania/Hippolyta, A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Charlotta, The Cherry Orchard; Mistress Page, The Merry Wives of Windsor; Duchess of York, Richard II; Louise Seger, Always…Patsy Cline; Ruth, Blithe Spirit. At other theatres, Ms. Brott has appeared in four different productions of Noises Off, three times in the role of Dotty and once as Belinda. Other professional credits include roles in Much Ado About Nothing, Measure for Measure, The Imaginary Invalid, Skylight, The Lion in Winter, Agnes of God, Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Matchmaker, The Comedy of Errors, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Romeo and Juliet, Cymbeline, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Unsinkable Molly Brown and God’s Country.

Leslie Brott is a member of Actor’s Equity Association. She received her M.F.A. from Penn State University.
