Kitty Sailer is a graduate student and University Teaching Assistant in the University of Utah Department of Modern Dance. She studies choreography, pedagogy, technique, and technology in her pursuit of an MFA from the University of Utah. In the last two years Kitty also studied intensively with Peggy Hackney in the California-based Integrated Movement Studies program, in order to become a certified Laban Bartenieff Movement Analyst. Prior to entering the academic world of dance, Kitty danced professionally with Headwaters Dance Company. She was a featured dancer in the works of internationally acclaimed choreographers such as Lar Lubovitch, John Jasperse, and Donna Uchizono. In addition to local and regional touring, Kitty participated in various community outreach activities with the company. Her choreography has been performed at the University of Utah, the University of Montana, Vassar College, and the Bardovan Opera House in Poughkeepsie, NY. She received a BA in Social Policy from Vassar College in 2004. As a member of the Vassar Repertory Dance Theater, she performed in the works of Jose Limon, Paul Taylor, and many others. She has also appeared in the work of Tatiana Baganova of Provincial Dances Theater in Russia, Leslie Partridge of Dance Space in New York City, and KT Niehoff of Lingo Dance Theater in Seattle.
