Cindy Gold is an assistant professor of theatre on the faulty of Northwestern
University in Evanston, Ill,, where she teaches acting. Prior teaching
includes six years at the University of Mississippi Department of Theatre
as head of undergraduate acting. An active member of the Actors’
Equity Association and the Screen Actors’ Guild, she has performed
Off-Broadway in New York, at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the Boston
Shakespeare Company and several professional improvisation groups, most
notably Mental Floss in Miami, Fla, and the Next Move in Boston, Mass.
She was the artistic director of The Big Yuk!, an improvisational theatre
ensemble in Mississippi. She has appeared on Miami Vice and The
Guiding Light, as well as a number of television and radio commercials.
Her directing credits include work at The Festival of Southern Theatre
in Mississippi, the Coconut Grove Playhouse Summer Conservatory in Miami,
the Lyric Stage in Boston, and the 13th Street Theatre in New York, N.Y.
Upcoming projects include directing the premiere production of Joyce Carol
Oates’ new play, The Passion of Henry David Thoreau, in
the spring of 1999. She holds a BFA from Boston University and an MFA
from the Professional Actor Training Program at the Alabama Shakespeare
Festival, University of Alabama.
