August 31-December 21, 2002 [News release]

Celebrating Agon features a single Panathenaic prize amphora on loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Once filled with precious olive oil from a grove sacred to the goddess Athena, Panathenaic prize amphorae served as prizes for the games of the Panathenaic Festival, held every four years in ancient Athens.
